CNC milling turning is essentially a process that combines turning and milling into one multi function machine. Typically these type machines have 5 axis’s or more. The machines that AIT utilizes are 5 axis lathes which have complete servo position control of both spindles (the A and B axis), the standard lathe axis (x and z), as well as a Y axis that allows moving cutting tools off the centerline of the spindles. Additionally the turret on these machines have live tooling capability, which allows us to put milling cutters, drills, and taps into the machine for milling features and tapping holes from almost any direction. This ability to both turn and mill inside the same machine allows us to produce parts complete in one machine, all in the same operation, thus eliminating costly secondary operations. CNC milling turning is ideal for parts that have both lathe turned features and milled or drilled features.

CNC milling turning capability allows us to be more competitive on complex parts. Typically by machining a part complete in one operation, we are on average 25% faster and less expensive than companies who must first lathe turn a part, and then perform second or even third operations on a milling machine. CNC milling turning is truly the way to go for parts requiring both types of operations.

Advanced Integrated Technologies Inc ( AIT ) is capable of CNC milling turning almost any machinable material, but the vast majority of our work is done in aluminum and various grades of stainless steel. Our architectural customers require their products to have a near perfect surface finish, free of even faint scratches. This level of attention to detail has refined our work force, taking us to a higher than normal level of attention to detail. In addition to this we utilize a full climate controlled inspection department, with a Swiss made CMM machine and Smart Scope measuring technology. Our commitment to quality is at the highest level.
