Product Polishing

AIT uses the Extrude Hone process.  It is a proven method for polishing and refining the interior surfaces of critical components down to a 5 µ inch (o.12 micron) Ra finish of better.  This process can polish anywhere that air, liquid or gas flows.  Rough surfaces from cast, EDM or conventional  machined surfaces can be improved by 80-90 percent regardless of surface complexity.  What was previously considered inaccessible areas to polish have become common place.  It can be applied to prototype and one-of-a-kind products as well as continuous polishing on a production basis.  Some of the more common industries are:

Aerospace - Turbine engine components, Fuel and Hydraulic system components, Used to improve various surface conditions on blades, disk, hubs and shafts.  Reduces metal fatigue with precision edge finishing of holes, smoothing surface finishes, and placing true radius on critical parts.

Dies & Molds - Die surfaces are polished producing a high quality and longer lasting die with a uniform surface which creates great releasing properties.  The uniformity of stock removal allows for precise "sizing" of undersized die passages.)

Medical & Food - Used extensively in piping systems which have been notorious for minute "traps" inherent in most conventional machining and casting processes.  The ability to polish internal surfaces of components such as valves, fitting, tubes and flow meters have greatly raised the standards in sterility.

Automotive - Used extensively for the high performance engines of today.  Fuel injection systems which include highly polished injection orifices and intake manifolds along with long smooth exhaust ports increase efficiencies and horsepower.
